Join your friends at Madison's Broadway Fountain at 6 p.m. New Year's Eve to ring out the old year. Music provided by the Madison City Band. Bring your bells and write out your wishes for Madison's future!


Bicentennial Babies!

All babies born in 2009 in Madison or to Madison families will be recognized and celebrated at the Bicentennial Babies event at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, at the Ohio Theatre, 105 E. Main St.

Professional photographer Stephanie Hellmann will take a group photo of the Bicentennial Babies. Baby Jack's mother, Kriss Luckett, will introduce a new song for the occasion. Bicentennial year highlights will be shown on the big screen. Families will take home Bicentennial gifts, and families can enjoy a free movie afterward.

No Bicentennial Baby should miss this! Please spread the word!
 

Shipley's, Electric Lady honored at Bicentini Party

Congratulations to The Electric Lady, the "people's choice" winner of the Bicentini "Best Martini" Contest. The panel of celebrity judges awarded the "judges choice" to Shipley's chocolate mint martini. The Historic Broadway Tavern also served up some very tasty cocktails at the Bicentini Party Nov. 1 at Riverboat Inn.

Special thanks to Kathie Petkovic of Riverboat Inn for hosting the party and providing free snacks, to Rusty Bladen for providing outstanding musical entertainment, to Camille Fife for serving as emcee, to Jan Vetrhus and Nancy Gruner for selling tickets, and to celebrity judges Betsey Vonderheide, Mayor Tim Armstrong and Police Chief John Wallace for their comic commentary.


 



Rivertown, the Musical

Congratulations to the cast and crew of "Rivertown," Madison's original Bicentennial musical. The production was a spectacular showcase for the talent of our youth -- and a rolicking good time for all who attended. Thanks for a very creative addition to our Bicentennial year.
 

Bicentennial Quilt

Madison's Bicentennial Quilt is now on display at the Madison-Jefferson County Public Library, 420 W. Main St., Madison.

The quilt's permanent home will be the Senior Citizen Center, 208 W. Main St.

It was a great party! June 6-14, 2009

Madison's 200 Hour Party was a grand success, from the pistol shot that started the 5K on Saturday, June 6, through the final, flag-waving crowd photo on Sunday, June 14.

Thank you to all the citizens of Madison and everyone who made the celebration possible. The golden memories from our 200 Hour Party will remain with us forever.

Our Bicentennial year will continue through the end of 2009, Keep coming back to this site for more exciting events and projects.
